FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 27, 2022

Dig-Smart, LLC Announces Support for Microsoft OAuth 2.0

In 2021 Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: “MSFT” @microsoft) announced that Basic Authentication on all tenants will be disabled on October 1, 2022. The tenants included in the announcement were: Outlook, EWS, RPS, POP, IMAP, and EAS protocols in Exchange Online (and SMTP if not being used). You can read the updated announcement by clicking this link.

Most 811 and Call Before You Dig organizations use email as the primary method for electronic delivery (NOTE: some call centers offer support for web service delivery and will not be impacted by this change). This means that most organizations leveraging the Microsoft email services and protocols mentioned above will be negatively impacted by the deprecation of Basic Auth.

After October 1, 2022, Microsoft will only support Modern Authentication (OAuth 2.0 token-based authorization). Today Dig-Smart, LLC is pleased to announce that we now support OAuth 2.0 in our latest build of Dig-Smart Server, 8.4.5x. All customers current on support are entitled to this complementary upgrade. Please contact your Dig-Smart, LLC representative to schedule your complementary system-wide upgrade.
